Talk to the designer
For more than a decade, I’ve been studying and working in the field of home product design. What has kept me going is, first and foremost, my love for furniture and home products. I summarize my design philosophy as "design follows nature." Whether it’s in craftsmanship, materials, or the underlying thinking, I always draw inspiration from "nature" as both a teacher and an artist.

While I experiment with many conceptual and artistic designs, as a product designer, my approach differs from that of pure artists. I always believe that a good product should include artistic elements but must also prioritize practicality. It can’t just be for decorative purposes. For this pet furniture design, I wanted the products to have unique and artistic forms, but I also ensured that the size, structure, and functionality were fully practical for real users—our pets.

These 10 pieces were designed around the daily life of pets—eating, sleeping, playing, and going outdoors—much like human living essentials. They were created to serve real-life needs. During the design process, we drew inspiration from natural forms such as terraced fields and mushrooms, integrating these organic lines into the products. Therefore, the birth of this series is centered on combining pets’ lifestyles with the natural ecosystem, with both elements as the core creative drive.

I have two cats, and in the past, I’ve bought many pet products for them. However, most mainstream products on the market are often too "juvenile" in design. In my daily life, I can always feel the quality of human home products, but there’s still a gap in the quality of pet products. In this collaboration with KAMA MUTA, I hope to design products that seamlessly blend into the home environment, making each piece an integral part of the living space. I’ve incorporated more natural and organic forms into the design to make the space feel more dynamic and full of possibilities. At the same time, the raw materials are selected according to the standards and quality of human home furnishings, elevating the overall product quality.

In my ideal human-pet home space, both humans and pets, along with nature and the overall environment, coexist in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Pets, as family members, need to be considered in the design of living spaces, balancing both shared interaction and private space. The products should blend in naturally, neither overpowering the space nor disrupting the ambiance. They should be works of art with high functionality, offering an effortless and organic feeling.
